App Developers Can Help Teach Children Important Skills

Disclosure: The post below is a sponsored post. Grammy2Kaiden may receive monetary compensation for the content in this post.

Kid's Academy, one of the most successful developers of apps for kids has released what might be their biggest app yet. 123 Tracing is an excellent educational app designed for younger students. This cute game helps kids trace numbers and get in the habit of writing and forming these letters that they will use the rest of their lives.

The free version of app is live and available to download via iTunes, Google Play and Amazon at:

Kid's Academy is all about helping children learn verbal, writing and math skills in an easy and fun manner. Apps such as 123 Tracing and Bingo ABC have been top-50 educational apps in the App Store, and Kid’s Academy has also brought the well-known stories and nursery rhymes The Three Little Pigs and Five Little Monkeys to life with interactive apps. The simple interfaces of the apps allow children to take the reins and play on their own, but the sing-a-longs and other activities are perfect for parent or teacher engagement, as well. Research has shown that singing along with nursery rhymes has cognitive and physical benefits for children. Not only are children learning new words and the context in which to use them, but strengthening tongue and mouth muscles at an early age will help with pronunciation skills.

About Kid’s Academy Company

The apps developed by Kids Academy received dozens of positive reviews and were top rated by Children’s Technology and Parent Reviews. Misfit Shine Review

Disclosure: I received the product described below at no charge to facilitate this blog post. All opinions are my own and may vary from your own.

Misfit Shine

Two of the biggest money makers in this economy have to do with high tech gadgets and fitness. General consumers want the newest technology and want to stay as healthy as possible. So what happens when you combine the two? The Misfit Shine!

The Misfit Shine is a small gadget that is about the diameter of a quarter that has features to track and sync your daily exercise routines. With its small size, you can wear it with pride or hide it discretely. The unit itself is easy to set up by popping it open and adding the included battery. Of course you need to download the app also.

For those of you that live in a soggy climate like I do, don't worry. The Misfit shine is water resistant up to 50 meters. That means your daily run in the rain or your laps in the pool will not kill your device.

There are definite upsides and downsides to this unit. Here is what I found after using the Misfit Shine.

Included with the Misfit Shine

Pro's
Small and sleek.
Easy to be discreet
Wearable as a watch, necklace, or with a magnet clasp
Easy to set up
Easy to use
Nice light up function to show your progress
Upgrades available to make the unit appear more like a watch or necklace

Con's
Currently only for use with Apple products (this is a big con for Android users but it is coming soon)
To use the watch function requires good eyesight
Contains a magnet (be VERY careful around electronic devices)
The unit is not rechargeable and the battery only lasts around 4 months

Overall, the product is fun to use and very motivational for anyone that is like me and find find more reasons to sit quietly on the couch than to get up off my booty and exercise. If you have a family member that would like to track their fitness progress and goals, this is a great product at a reasonable price. Hopefully they are an Apple user at this time or they will need to wait for a little bit before they can use the product.

The Bingo Song HD - Intearctive Sing Along Music App Review

I am not sure if I could find someone out there that does not know the Bingo Song. But with the use of electronics, we can now make the Bingo song into a fun interactive game for our kids. The Bingo Song HD for iPads is a great new way to have your children learn while listening to a song that we already know.

The Bingo Song HD app is available for download in the iTunes store for a reasonable price and has several interactive features. Some of the features of the app are:

  • Sing along with Karaoke Mode!
  •  Record your children singing!
  • Touch and discover fun surprises in the captivating illustrations.
  • Learn about the farm and farm animals with interactive cards
  • Original music and colorful illustrations
  • Rich animations and activities on all pages
  • HD quality graphics and sounds
  • Develop fine motor skills
  • Fun animations and sounds

The 5 year old on my house loved sitting down and singing along with Bingo. Usually I have a hard time getting him sit down at all, but once he figured out that he could sing and record it, he loved it. He thought that listening to himself sing was the best thing in the world. Bingo HD has become his app of choice during his iPad time.

In addition to the singing of the song, there are other features to the application. There are also cards that teach children about farm animals by asking them questions. This area was a little more difficult for the 5 year old since he has learning disabilities, but he likes to click through and ask me for the answers that he does not know. This is an area that he will need to use more for the repetition to help him learn.

I imagine that there is a pretty limited age group that would enjoy this app but currently my children fit right in the age group and truly enjoy singing and learning (and of course listening to themselves) with Bingo HD.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
