Luvs Nightlock Diapers Review And Giveaway

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Luvs. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Luvs Nightlock Diapers

With a newborn in the house, when I was given the opportunity to try new  Luvs Nightlock Diapers, I jumped at the chance. As a parent, I am always looking for a diaper that really prevents leaks. What I have found in the past is that diapers leak. Even the ones that leak, leave little gelatinous globs of absorbent material on the child's bottom that just rolls around when you try to wipe it off.

Some Facts about Luvs Nightlock Diapers:
  • Luvs with Night Lock isn't available on retailer shelves nationwide until September 16th, but they're being provided with an exclusive sneak peak at the product, even before it becomes available!
  • New Luvs with NightLock offers our largest absorbency area EVER to lock away wetness, even overnight. So baby has a restful night of sleep and mom has a more peaceful night to take care of – well, Mom!
  • Luvs with NightLock offers the ultimate in overnight protection for baby AND a good night ahead for Mom with:
  • Our largest absorbency area EVER to help lock wetness away, even overnight, and locks away wetness better than Huggies Snug & Dry** - meaning less leaks at night for baby and more time for mom to enjoy those nighttime hours, however she sees fit
  • Leak Barrier Leg Gathers to ensure leaks are kept away from PJs and in our diaper - where they belong!
  • Two new diaper designs per box - same funky Luvs monkey, new fun designs
  • The Luvs Money Back Guarantee.
When I open the new  Luvs Nightlock Diapers, I was very surprised. They smelled like baby powder. Diapers are not traditionally scented, so this took me by surprise. I actually liked the light scent that the diapers had. It was not overwhelming at all.

Inside the Luvs Nightlock Diaper

In order to really get a feel for the diapers before putting them to the true test, I opened one up and inspected it. There are 2 designs that are simple and not licensed characters. Just a simple, but cute purple monkey. The leak barriers built in to the  Luvs Nightlock Diapers are significantly taller than other diapers that I have tried. I had to run my finger along them to get them to release from the center area of the diaper since the were stuck from being squished in the package. I have to do the same thing with other brands, so this was not surprising or time consuming to me.

Funky Monkey

Then the big test came. The little stinker got put in a Luvs Nightlock Diaper and put in bed. When I got up I had a big surprise. Jaz had not peed at all! The test subject failed her duties! Since her diaper was clean and dry, I figured the first pee would be a good one. Not quite. Now we had a parent fail! After a few more tries, I had several successful diaper tests. Finally, I can say that the diapers held up. They did not leak through during the night, there was not any clear gelatin looking goo on the baby's bottom, and they were still intact.

So far I have been very happy with the Luvs Nightlock Diapers. I will say that this even surprised me. I have been a complete believer in another brand through all of my children and Luvs has shown me that they can keep up with my regular brand.

Baby Comfy Nose Aspirator Review

As a parent, we have all had to deal with the green little boogers in our infants nose. I was recently given the opportunity to try Baby Comfy Nose for free.

I am sure there are a few of my readers that are asking, " What is a Baby Comfy Nose?" Here is a brief  Product Description from baby Comfy Nose

Endorsed by Dr. Sears on The Doctors TV Show and an Amazon top 100 baby product. Baby Comfy Nose is significantly more effective than standard bulb and battery type aspirators because it uses your own suction to hygienically and quickly remove nasal mucus. Designed to use household tissue as a filter so the user is protected from contact with liquid and mucus. The mesh pouch keeps the pieces together in the dishwasher, then hang to dry. Available in three colors.

When the Baby Comfy Nose  came I was excited to try it. The infant child in my home had just caught a nasty cold from the older germ factory (her brother). She was snotty, wheezy, and whiny.

I opened the Baby Comfy Nose and discovered that there was a small bag to store the Baby Comfy Nose in so I did not have to worry about losing any of the smaller parts.
The small piece that actually goes inside the child's nose is a soft silicone rubber. It is flexible and will not cause injury or pain to your child if used correctly, This was a huge plus. I have never liked how stiff the hard rubber nasal aspirators are that you get from hospitals.

The filters used in the Baby Comfy Nose are just a standard tissue. If you don't have tissues in your house, you could easily substitute toilet paper for the filter material. It is a little creepy to know that you are going to suck on the aspirator to get boogies out of your child's nose, but know that the tissue will protect you!

Here is a great "how to" video

The Baby Comfy Nose nasal aspirator worked well to clear out my daughters nose. With the cold that she had, I was able to test this out numerous times.  With just a few pieces, it is easy to wash and put back together. It stores easily in the mesh bag that comes with it and it did not mold if I put it away without completely drying it since the storage bag has plenty of airflow.

I did find one small problem. I found that I did not have a free hand. I was holding the nasal aspirator in one hand and the tubing in the other. I like to keep one hand on my child for stability and to ensure that she does not roll over or fall. Not having a free hand made me a little nervous. It may not be an issue for everyone, but it was for me.

Apple Pie Kid's Ipad Case Review

I recently received two Apple Pie Kid's Ipad cases at no charge to write a review. I was a little surprised when the case came since they are made of cardboard. Then I realized that these are really designed for children, not for business use.

In my home, our Ipad is an essential tool for working with our special needs child. We can incorporate education and fun while sitting down. But with a special needs child, or any young child for that matter, comes sticky fingers and spills.

The Apple Pie Kid's Ipad case is a way to not have to worry about the sticky fingers. They are inexpensive and recyclable so you do not need to feel like you are wasting money on an expensive case, just to have you child destroy it with applesauce and juice. The extra bonus? They are made in the USA

The cardboard construction is durable. I received one white and one brown (standard cardboard color) case. My children and I decided that they should be decorated to their likings. So they went to work with markers and crayons to make the cases look just the way they wanted.

I will say that the first case has held strong after 2 weeks of constant use by children and adults. The velcro tabs are still working, even with the food crumbs stuck in them. I actually thought that these would not hold up well to the abuse my family would put them through, but they have exceeded my expectations. Also, knowing that they are cheap to replace and an American brand is very comforting.

Brew Over Ice Review

Brew Over Ice

I was recently sent a Brew Over Ice gift pack to test out and review. I am a big coffee and tea drinker, so this was a big bonus for me. I have never used my Keurig to brew cold beverages and with the hot weather, there is no better time to start.

Using a Keurig has always been simple. Now I know that making a cold beverage is just as easy. Just a few modifications to brewing a hot beverage. Just follow the simple steps below.

Pick you Brew Over Ice K-cup

Insert the K-cup into your brewer and close the top of the Keurig
Place large cup full of ice under the brewer

Press brew and you are done!

To clarify, I chose to brew coffee over ice and add a little milk and a spoonful of white chocolate powder. I could not resist trying a white chocolate mocha for my first iced beverage. Yes it was delicious!

This was a great way to make a yummy cold beverage at home. I only ran into one issue. That is that most of the ice melted from the hot coffee brewing over it. I did find that reducing the brew temperature of my Keurig helped a little, but I think a little bigger cup is better if you are going to add anything to the beverage you brew.

Now that I know I can brew iced teas and cold coffee beverages, I am a little delirious. Could it possibly be a little too much caffeine and all of the money I am saving by avoiding over priced coffee shops? Yes!!

If you currently own a Keurig and would like a $2 coupon to try a Brew Over Ice product you can go HERE.

You can also play a game on the Brew Over Ice website for a chance to win $10,000!! Who would not want a chance at free money?
