My Little Big Pillow Review #mylittlebigpillow

Disclaimer: I received the product described below at no charge or a reduced price to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

Before receiving and trying the My Little big Pillow
I never thought about a pillow for my toddler. She always snuggled up to her blanket and appeared comfortable.

Now that I have introduced the My Little Big Pillow to my two-year-old, I will never get it back! She loves it. She immediately took to the pillow. As a mom, I was a little nervous giving a pillow to a toddler, but so far so good. Besides, how can I go wrong with an organic memory foam pillow.

The case that comes with the pillow is soft! I actually thought that there was not a case since the zipper was so well hidden. The pillow really is the perfect size for a little head. It is really too small to fit in a standard pillow case, but in order to coordinate and keep the pillow clean, I tucked it inside a standard case.

Product Description from Snugg Organic:
Organic premium shredded latex pillow for toddlers and children age 2+. shredded latex is the most premium filling for pillows and that's why we have decided to use it as a filling for our children's pillows. 'My Little Big
Pillow' has been designed to provide the optimum sleep for children. Its perfect size means it is not too small like most other toddler pillows, yet still the right depth to provide the correct support for your little ones head, neck and spine. It comes with an organic soft cotton case, is hypoellergenic, dust mite resistant and durable. Each pillow has a lifelong gurantee.

As parents, we all love the small little things that our children do during their first few years of life. We want to cherish those memories forever. Every little thing that your child learns or does is a first and should be recognized by us as parents.

I will never forget when my children came home from the hospital in their teeny little outfits that they swam in. Then as they developed, small little things happened that made me grin from ear to ear. They were all simple things too. A small smile, a first tooth, first pair of shoes, the first haircut, the first step, and even the first fall.

Sometimes I wish I could relive the feelings of those events over and over. But there are ways to keep the memories a live a little longer, and keep your child comfortable too. With the launch of Pampers Swaddlers in sizes 4 and 5  Pampers Swaddlers are Pampers’ softest diaper ever, and while moms have always loved Swaddlers for their newborns, Swaddlers are now available through size 5! Dohmie by Marpac #serioussleep

Disclosure: I received the product described in this review in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and may vary from your own.

As parents, we have all had those nights where our child just will not sleep. They fight going to sleep or they just keep waking up. If you have children, you know exactly what I am talking about. You also know the frustration that comes with these sleepless nights.

The Dohmie is a white noise machine that was created to help babies fall asleep and stay asleep.
When I received my Dohmie, it could not have come at a better time. My 6 month old daughter is teething and trying to adjust to the time change that just occurred. Her sleep patters are completely off and she has been fighting going to sleep at night.

Now instead of waiting to 11pm for her to fall asleep, I have been using the Dohmie. It is not perfect and does not "make" her fall asleep, but it definitely has cut the crying time down and keeps her asleep after she falls asleep.

The Dohmie itself is what I would consider a medium size unit and does not weigh a lot. The actual unit does not require batteries which is a plus in my home. That does mean that you will need an open electrical outlet inside your child's room that is far enough away from where they sleep, or reach, to avoid injuries.

The Dohmie is a white noise machine. That means that it makes a subtle noise to help eliminate silence in the room and provide comfort to your child. The actual noise that the Dohmie makes sounds a little like breathing. It is not loud, but it is noticeable from anywhere within the room that the unit is placed.

After using the unit for several nights, I did notice that my daughter is sleeping longer through the night. I did also notice that the nights that she is not fighting falling asleep as long. To explain, before using the Dohmie, she would go anywhere from an hour to 2 hours crying as she fought the bedtime routine. Now with the use of the Dohmie, she spends about 30 minutes crying before falling asleep.

The noise and volume of the machine is adjustable. With the turn of a button, you can control the level of noise. I am sure that adjusting the volume level to the perfect sound will vary from child to child. I live in a quiet town with very little outdoor noise, so I keep the volume fairly low. I can imagine that a family that lives in a large busy city or near a main street, may need to raise the volume a little more to drown out the exterior noises.

The Dohmie is designed to be portable, but I found that the size of the unit makes it a little inconvenient to take with me. The actual size of the unit is 2.4 pounds, 7.4 inches around, and about 4 inches tall. The size of the unit makes it difficult to toss in a diaper bag or just take with you on a trip.

Shout Out to SOCK It To Me!

The one thing that I do not regularly do, is write a post about a product that I have purchased. Of course that is how I started this blog years ago, but I have found that I have strayed away from that over the last year or so. I have found a brand that I feel deserves a write up especially with the gift buying season upon us. In fact, this would have been a great post for back to school too, but I have been a little backed up with life.

The brand that I have fallen in love with is called SOCK it to me. They are a Portland Oregon based company that was started in 2004. The first time I ran across these socks, I was under a bridge in downtown Portland at an outdoor market called Saturday Market. If you have never been to the Portland area, the Saturday Market is a blend of local Portland artists and the eclectic. (I am trying to be politically correct here.) You can find everything from handmade ceramics to tie dye clothing.

While my family and I were looking through the local vendors "booths," we came across one that had some really wild and crazy socks. My daughter was immediately drawn in. Something about knee high socks, bright colors, and skulls. I very graciously bought her three pairs. Two of them were striped socks with skulls and one that were red socks with monkeys on them.

For months she ranted and raved over her crazy socks and I just could not seem to figure out what the big deal was. After all, I have children, I don't usually wear crazy socks unless it is Halloween. Okay fine, maybe I have a pair of rainbow socks with the sewn in toes, but that is not public knowledge.

Fast forward about 5 years. My oldest daughter still has not outgrown her crazy design phase and she has managed to rub a teeny bit of her style of on me. One day she convinced my husband to buy a pair for me because she knew that I loved frogs and she knew that my "normal" job is working as a nurse. They came home from a local store with the cutest darn socks even. A darker green sock with a big frog on the side, and a pair of grey socks with stethoscopes and needles on them. I was not sure when I would wear them. They did not exactly match my everyday scrubs for work. But I slipped a pair on just for fun and I have been hooked ever since.

Here is why I am hooked. Clearly as a Gen X child, I am not young in years, but I am not old at heart. I am not really physically aging very gracefully either, and standing on my feet for 12 hours a day causes serious issues with my poor legs. I found that SOCK it to me socks are a dream come true for more sore tired legs and add a cute twist to whatever I am wearing. They are thick feeling without the physical bulk of a thick sock and they are great for improving circulation through your legs. I hear some of you saying, "They are just socks." No they are not!! They are fun, crazy, and indescribably soft.

About a year after getting my first pairs of SOCK it to me socks, I have grown my collection to about 30 pairs. I now have socks that have traveled to Africa with me and others that I covet. I know that I am probably the only person that went to Africa on vacation wearing Giraffe and Zebra socks, but I know that I had cozy feet through my whole trip.

If you need a great gift item for this Holiday Season, or any other time. SOCK it to me socks are a great and possibly crazy gift item.

Genie Bras Review

Disclaimer: I received items at no charge to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

For the last several years my daughter has struggled with finding a bra that fit and is comfortable. When I was offered a chance to review the Genie Bra, I was actually a little excited. I figured I would have my daughter test one and I would test the other. Boy was I wrong!

I allowed my daughter to pick the color that she wanted. So she grabbed them all. I had to chase her around to ensure that I received one to facilitate my honest review. After a few days, my daughter stopped me and said, "I hope you don't think that you will see any of these bras again." Um, what? She was so in love with the comfort and fit of the bra that I gave to her that she went and took mine too. So in all fairness, all of the opinions in this post are a combination of mine and hers and put into writing by me.

The Fit: The sizes are super easy to choose. The sizes are set to Small, medium, large, etc. Now if  you are a woman, you know that is not how we have shopped for bras....ever. Don't worry. They sizes are broke down in a way that is easy to understand. I ordered the size that I knew would work for me. When the bras arrived, I was a little scared since they appeared too small, but to my surprise, they did fit and fit well.

The Style: There are a couple of different looks to a Genie bra but the color offerings are expansive. The new fall color line has some great choices that will blend well under your fall wardrobe. The cut of the bras that I received has an appearance that is similar to some sports bras, with a pull over feature and wide straps. For my daughter, the wide straps were a plus because if they showed under a shirt, it just appeared like she was wearing a tank top under her shirt. Layering is in, right?

The Benefits: One of my biggest fears with a sports style bra is the lack of any lining. Genie has added a liner to the inside of their bras to ensure complete coverage. They have also managed to design the cut of their bra for full support without under wires that dig in under your arms or anywhere else for that matter. The color line is also a big plus. You can never go wrong with a color to match everything you own, right ladies? Finally, my favorite feature. They are washable! No need to hand wash, and lay flat to dry. That is heaven in itself.

If you need a comfortable bra or know someone that does, Genie has it. They are relatively inexpensive and in my opinion, well worth the cost.

OOFOS Review

When it comes to my feet, I am extremely picky. I like shoes that fit well and provide maximum support. I am all about how the shoe makes me feel after a long day of walking and standing.

OOFOS has created shoes that are both comfortable and practical for everyday wear. When I was given the opportunity to review a pair at no charge, I was ready to jump for joy.

I received the OOcloog in plum. I figured that I should pick a shoe that would provide support, comfort, and not show dirt since I tend to get my shoes dirty.

When I put on my OOcloog's I was surprised to feel the arch support. I have always been told that I have "ballerina" feet since I have high arches. So when I could feel the arch support resting against my foot, I was in heaven. I immediately knew that they would provide great support for my feet.

The OOcloog is made with OOFoam technology that is soft and supportive for your feet. The
OOFoam is designed to absorb shock and lessen any foot pain you may have, reduces foot fatigue, and is designed to help rejuvenate your feet.

For my real test for my OOcloog's, I wore them for a 12 hour shift. During my regular work day, I can stand and walk for 12 hours a day on concrete floors. That is not only hard on my feet, but also hard on my shoes. I find that my shoes break down more frequently that others that I know due to my physical job.

I found that my feet were not nearly as tired at the end of the day. The best way to tell you how my feet felt is to tell you what I did not feel. Normally after a long day of standing and walking on hard floors, I get home and take my shoes off. There is usually a small relief when I take my shoes off. Like a little pain is relieved with the added blood flow. When I wore my
OOcloog's, I took my shoes off after a long day, and I felt....nothing. No pain in my feet. No feeling of the circulation rushing back in. No aches. It was pure OO and ahh!

These are shoes you will just need to test out for yourself. OOFOS are available at limited retailers nationwide or online in the OOFOS store.
